It’s everyone’s favorite topic of conversation after the big game – the best commercials! And at this year’s game, millions saw commercials designed to raise the respect and relevance of Jesus. People will be talking, and we want to give you the inside track to join the conversation.
Here’s what you need to know:
Be on the lookout for the “He Gets Us” commercials. The “He” is Jesus – and these two commercials that aired during the big game are part of one of the largest faith campaigns in history!
“He Gets Us” is a movement to reintroduce people to the Jesus of the Bible. The first ad is about friendship, and how Jesus calls us to be childlike not only in our faith but in how we love and relate to others. The second ad is about confrontation and disagreement, and how Jesus countered conflict with God’s confounding love.
These ads frequently make for good conversation–why not use this as an opportunity to share Jesus with someone you know?
Tips for facilitating a great conversation:
Be discerning - You don’t need to lead a formal discussion about these ads unless it organically happens. In these next few days, people will be talking about these commercials. Consider the best opportunity for conversation based on the atmosphere and your relationship with those who encounter the ads.
Be curious - Ask people what they think about what they saw. What did they like? How did the spots make them feel? When you do share, speak from your personal experience about your relationship with Jesus.
Be ready for opportunities to share Jesus with others with the He Gets Us book by Max Lucado – launching nationwide this Tuesday, February 14th.
WILL YOU JOIN US IN PRAYER?
It’s estimated that 100 million people watched the big game. That number can seem incomprehensible, but it represents 100 million individual people who heard the good news of Jesus.
God, I pray that your message resonates with all those watching and leads not to anger, but to curiosity. Let today be a catalyst for Jesus to permeate our culture. Amen.
