BIOGRAPHY * ABOUT ESTHER CASTRO
Esther Castro was born on December 22 in Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx and raised in Manhattan, New York City, East Harlem. Esther comes from a family of one beautiful older sister and three younger brothers. Her parents, Olegario Castro De Leon and Amanda Castro are from Puerto Rico and Esther along with her sister and brothers were raised in a Christian home. At the age of 6 years Esther was already singing in the church and at thirteen, while listening to a popular song on the radio titled "Come to Me" by France Joli, was when she knew that she wanted to be a professional singer. Esther studied music, fashion illustration and photography at the H.S. High School of Fashion Industries in New York and graduated from Hunter College receiving a BA in media communications. Her areas of expertise and experience include Modeling, Directing, Performing Arts, Theater, Journalism, Publicity, Advertising, Radio and TV Broadcasting. She worked at Fox 5 TV for a few years as a Producer Assistant, Advertising, News Library, Good Day New York and with Bill McCreary – Emmy Award Winning TV Journalist, Former Anchorman & VP of Fox 5 TV News TheMcCreary Reports .
Esther is also an actress, model and dancer who have studies in some of the most prestigest acting coaches and worked in several films, TV, Soaps and musical theatre has had the privilege to work with such actors as Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Wesley Snipes, Rubén Blades, Giancarlo Esposito, Bill Murray, Geena Davis, Randy Quaid, Spike Lee films and Hawthorne James films, just to name a few.
Esther achieved one of her dreams which was to sing for the first time at Madison Square Garden. She was specially invited to sing in a choir of 700 voices, open and close the event "Tribute to Grace and Hope" - Anniversary of 9/11. An evening of remembrance, prayer and reflection with the participation of "A list top Christian artists like Marcos Witt, Steven Curtis Chapman, Fred Hammond, Third Day, Toby Mac among others. Also have performed at the United Palace, and great stadiums in Puerto Rico and through out the U.S sharing the platform with such major recording artists like Marcos Witt, Anointed, Rene Gonzalez, Danny Berrios, Samuel Hernandez, Eric Perdomo, Dorcas Ruperto, Yadira Coradin, Ricardo Rodriguez, el Trio de Hoy and others.
Esther congregates in the Pentecostal Church "La Sinagoga", located in the heart of Harlem in New York City. Esther in the local church serves as a worship leader and is former director of the youth choir. She worked for eight years in Public Relations/Publicity and as Vice President of the Association of Youth Ambassadors of Christ (AJEC) of the Latin American Council (CLANY) of the Borough of Manhattan, NYC. She oversaw the youth of many churches in Manhattan for which coordinated events, activities and services, conferences, retreats and bible studies, among others. Esther is also a missionary for the Latin American Council of the Pentecostal Church of God in the city of New York. Esther also worked as associate producer of cable TV program "Addicted to Jesus" created by her brother Jose Castro for nine years and currently serves as an independent producer of her own TV show "Esther's Latino Christian Music-TV". Now you can see through her official Youtube Channel and Alerta TV Network through Verizon FiOS TV channel 463. This bilingual TV program that reaches around the world with music building lives with a positive message, through music, videos, testimonies, interviews, concerts, Bible studies, news, Entertainment and much more.
Esther among other projects that can be mentioned are: her work as an executive, photographer and advertising in major Hispanic newspapers fastest growing today, el Diario La Prensa, La Voz Hispana and "Mi Zona Hispana" among others and the start of a multi media, marketing and printing company which also includes graphic design and promotions.
